Dating quotes

Dating is pressure and tension. What is a date, really, but a job interview that lasts all night?

JERRY SEINFELD, stand-up routine

Dating is about finding out who you are and who others are. If you show up in a masquerade outfit, neither is going to happen.

In its purest form, dating is auditioning for mating (and auditioning means we may or may not get the part).

Hurry not a woman's favor; neither forcer her hastily to surrender to thee. For she goeth into love as she goeth into the waters at the seashore; first a hand and then a lip goeth she in by littles. She diveth not, she leapeth not from the pier; but by gentle shocks and cries of protest she entereth slowly; yet when the waters of love encompass her, then she is supported. She swimmeth in her joy; she floateth on the tide of happiness.

Everybody knows the pressure of a first date: Searching for that perfect outfit. Hunting for ways to be engaging. Dissecting each detail when it's over to check for mistakes. Dating can make even the most confident person lose his cool.

Dating is not a great way to "really get to know someone." Why? Because everyone is on best behavior during a date. If you really want to get to know someone, watch the person at school every day, or both of you get a job together at McDonald's. Eight straight hours over a hot greaser full of fries will tell you the real tale.

Dating is primarily a numbers game. People usually go through a lot of people to find good relationships. That's just the way it is.

One of the strengths of Internet dating is that it's anonymously impersonal, which helps take the sting out of rejection. If you're interested in someone who notices your profile or you're intrigued by a computer-generated match, let the e-mail begin. If you're not interested, delete the e-mail with about the same level of remorse you'd feel from dumping jellyfish overboard.

Infectious Myth

The CDC Vaccine Scandal — A vaccine scandal erupted recently at the CDC, with a CDC whistleblower leaking data about the suppression of the connection between the MMR vaccine and autism. Dr. Toni Bark explains why we can now say that the CDC's claim that it was unaware of any connection between MMR and autism is false, that it has been lying to US citizens to maintain the illusion that all vaccines are safe and have no significant risk of side effects.

GP comment: The vaccine issue is a bit tricky, as we see when Barks condemns the CDC and certain vaccines but is supportive of other vaccines. This is as it should be.
